In 1955, brilliant engineer and innovator Harry Litwin founded the company as Litwin Engineering & Construction, Inc., in Wichita, Kansas.

In 1960, the company expanded and relocated its headquarters to Houston, Texas. In 1966, it became the first Western contractor to establish an office in Moscow.

During the following decades, the company became a renowned international contractor, developing a reputation for outstanding design, consistent workmanship and superior service. Numerous projects were completed in the Soviet Union and other Soviet Bloc countries, earning it the title of "Largest Western Contractor Behind the Iron Curtain".

In 1996, the company was acquired by Raytheon Construction & Engineering, losing its identity through integration into the new entity. Raytheon eventually sold its business to Washington Group International, which subsequently filed for bankruptcy.

In 2000, Harvey Katz, an original co-founder and former chairman, resurrected the company with the assistance of Harry Litwin, himself.

The new Litwin has risen once again to become a project development and management company that can assist its clients with complex projects from inception through completion.
